The Nigerian Society for Colposcopy & Cervical Pathology (NSCCP) is pleased to announce that our President, Dr. Olayinka Olaniyan, has been appointed to the National Task Force Committee for Cervical Cancer Elimination (NTF-CCE). This appointment comes as part of the federal government’s concerted efforts to combat cervical cancer in Nigeria.
The NTF-CCE, established by the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, is a 15-member committee tasked with spearheading the nation’s cervical cancer elimination campaign. The committee, chaired by former Health Minister Prof. Isaac Adewole, will play a pivotal role in achieving the ambitious targets set out in the National Strategic Plan for Control of Cervical Cancer 2023-2027. These targets include screening 50 percent of eligible women at least once in their lifetime and ensuring the treatment of 100 percent of detected precancerous lesions by 2027.
Dr. Olayinka Olaniyan, who will serve alongside other distinguished members, will bring his extensive expertise and dedication to the fight against cervical cancer, further advancing the mission of the NSCCP to reduce the burden of cervical cancer across the country. In accepting this appointment, Dr. Olaniyan stated, "I am deeply honored to join this important initiative. The fight against cervical cancer is at a critical juncture in Nigeria, and I am committed to working with my colleagues on the Task Force to ensure that we meet our national targets for screening and treatment. This is a significant step forward for the health of women across Nigeria."
The NSCCP congratulates Dr. Olaniyan on this well-deserved appointment and reaffirms our commitment to supporting the Task Force in its mission to eliminate cervical cancer in Nigeria.
