BASIC COLPOSCOPY COURSE 2ND - 5TH JULY 2024
The Nigerian Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology announces a Basic Colposcopy Course. The course is ideal for gynaecologists and general medical practitioners who are interested in the practice of colposcopy. It is also designed as a refresher and update course for practicing colposcopists.
The format includes lectures, interactive audience response session, group slide review sessions, colposcopically-directed biopsy and Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) demonstration practice on mannequins, and hands on colposcopy training on volunteer clients.
DATE – July 2nd to 5th 2024.
VENUE – Trauma Centre Auditorium, 3rd floor, National Hospital, Abuja
Course Objectives
- Understand the role of high-risk HPV genotypes in the pathophysiology of cervical cancer.
- Understand the physiology of the colposcopic assessment procedures.
- Understand the technique of manipulating the colposcope.
- Recognize the colposcopically normal and abnormal cervix and appropriately select areas of the cervix for biopsy.
- Understand management algorithms and appropriately use current Risk-Based Management Consensus Guidelines for Abnormal Cervical Cancer Screening Tests and Cancer Precursor.
