NSCCP Training Courses

The Nigerian Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology announces a Basic Colposcopy Course. The course is ideal for gynecologists and general medical practitioners who are interested in the practice of colposcopy. It is also designed as a refresher and update course for practicing colposcopists.

The format includes lectures, interactive audience response session, group slide review sessions, colposcopically directed biopsy and Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedures (LEEP) demonstration practice on mannequins, and hands on colposcopy training on volunteer clients

Course Objectives

• Understand the role of high-risk HPV genotypes in the pathophysiology of cervical cancer.
• Understand the physiology of the colposcopic assessment procedures
• Understand the technique of manipulating the colposcope
• Recognize the colposcopically normal and abnormal cervix and appropriately select areas of the cervix for biopsy.
• Understand management algorithms and appropriately use current Risk-Based Management Consensus Guidelines for Abnormal Cervical Cancer Screening Tests and Cancer Precursor
