Dr. Zara Mairami-Maiyaki

Dr Fatima Zara Mairami-Maiyaki who hails from Borno State Nigeria is a Medical Practitioner, a Chief Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist with the National Hospital, Abuja Nigeria.

 

A former Head of Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department at the National Hospital Abuja; she had prior to that served as Vice Chairman 2012 – 2014 and subsequently Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association FCT Chapter 2014 – 2016; and has continued to serve the National Body of the Nigerian Medical Association as Chairman of Committee of Ethics and Practice having previously held the same position and also served as Chairman of the Health Bank Committee. While undergoing her undergraduate studies she served on the Executive Council of Nigerian Medical Students Association, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and during her postgraduate studies, the Association of Resident Doctors, Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital Kaduna. She had served the Medical and Dental Consultants Association National Hospital Abuja, Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria FCT Chapter and the National Body. She is the current Treasurer of International College of Surgeons FCT Chapter and sits on the Governing Board of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.

 

With an unwavering passion for the promotion of wellbeing of the less privileged and underserved, she has served selflessly in various capacities aimed at promoting the welfare of the voiceless. She is the pioneer Medical Director of FOMWAN Hospital Kaduna, a community based non-profit making centre she set up, served voluntarily and watched grow to offering various specialties including surgical interventions. She is the Chairman of Badr Nabi Foundation, a not-for-profit non-governmental organization that majorly focuses on feeding programs to vulnerable communities within Nigeria that has partnered with Dangote Foundation in feeding the needy in four states of the Federation – Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi and Katsina States. She served Rotary International Kaduna State Chapter and is an award recipient of Rotary International FCT Chapter. She was a Member of Safe Environment Network Kaduna, a current member Nigerian Cancer Society, Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria and Fellow West African College of Surgeons. During her two terms as Chair of the Friends of Regent Secondary School, Mabushi Abuja, she championed programs which translated to positively impacting the lives of the needy, particularly orphans and the LEA School Mabushi.

 

Dr Zara is an accomplished entrepreneur and is blissfully married and blessed with a delightful young man.
